A SERVING officer with Cleveland Police has been charged with indecent assault on a 20-year-old woman.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in the early hours of Thursday, August 24, in the Hemlington area.
PC Andrew Shearer is due to appear before Teesside Magistrates Court this afternoon.
The 28-year-old officer was suspended form duty within hours of the complaint being made. The incident has been voluntarily referred to the Police Complaints Authority.
