Darlington manager Gary Bennett believes it is "inevitable" that higher division clubs are looking at some of his players.

First Division Barnsley are rumoured to be keeping tabs on Craig Liddle and Paul Heckingbottom, while other clubs have also taken an interest in Quakers' solid start to the season.

"Considering the way all our players are performing at the moment, they will attract scouts to our games. There's nothing we can do about it," said Bennett.

"It goes to show that the lads are on the right lines and performing well both as individuals and as a team. No doubt there'll be more scouts coming and there will be speculation.''

Meanwhile, Bennett is having to rethink his plans for the middle of defence tomorrow.

Neil Aspin is suffering from a back injury, but Frenchman Christophe Raymond is definitely out with a hamstring injury.

"Neil is feeling a lot better, but it's going to be touch and go. I'm not going to risk him if he's not 100 per cent. I'd rather he missed one match, instead of playing and aggravating the injury and missing more games. Christophe has a hamstring problem which will keep him out - he would have played.''

Skipper Martin Gray is looking to round off a perfect week at home to York City tomorrow.

Quakers take on the Minstermen with six points from their last two matches and Gray admitted: "If we beat York, then we'll have had a great week. If we had said before we played Southend that we would be facing York with two wins under our belts, then people wouldn't have believed us.

"It's important for us to be up there near the top of the table, instead of down at the other end.''
