IF your wedding photographs feature Mary Quant mini-skirts, mop-top haircuts and mod-style suits, then Newcastle's Register Office wants to hear from you.

To help mark refurbishment of the office's wedding suite, registrars are calling for couples who married in the mid-1960s to celebrate the occasion with them.

Anyone who tied the knot at the Civic Centre between April 1, 1965, and the same date in 1966 is welcome to join the registrars staff and the Lord Mayor next Monday.

Chief Superintendent Registrar, Lorraine Dewison, said: "We would like to invite back those couples who were married here during the first year of opening.

"We carried out about 700 marriages between 1965 and 1966 and we'd love to see as many people as possible join us here again to celebrate their special day.

"Of course we can't relive those heady times but we can help people celebrate making their vows to each other during those heady days.

People don't have to tell us they're coming - they can just turn up."

Anyone interested should arrive at the civic centre at 2pm
