THE competition will be hot when a North-East chef takes on rivals from across the country.
Iqbal Uddin will represent the region in the national final of the Curry Chef of the Year competition, on Wednesday.
Iqbal, who works at the Massala restaurant in Borough Road, Middlesbrough, will be given just an hour to cook a curry dish, side dish and either bread or rice. All the dishes must be prepared in front of a panel of judges, who will be looking for the best taste, texture, aroma and appearance of the food.
The winner of the competition, held in Harrogate's International Centre, will receive a cheque for £1,000 and the coveted title of National Curry Chef of the Year.
