A GAMES guru has scooped gold in the Playstation equivalent of the Olympics.

Racing-mad Lee Hamilton, 23, became hooked on the console game Gran Turismo 2 the first time he played it.

After spending hours playing it, he reached the highest possible level in the motor racing game. Then he heard about a competition to find its ultimate champion.

Mr Hamilton, a postman, came second in the regional heat in Leeds. The success ensured his entry in the national final, which took place at London's Earl's Court.

Mr Hamilton, of Mitford Close, Ormesby, Middlesbrough, romped to victory, securing a further £1,000 on top of his £250 winnings for the regional heat.
