MURDER hunt detectives are following up "a number of leads'' in their bid to find the killer of prostitute Vicky Glass.

Detective Superintendent Brian Dunn, who is heading the investigation, appealed yesterday for everyone who saw the 21-year-old on the weekend of her disappearance in September, to come forward.

He said: "If there are clients who are reluctant to come forward, they should be aware we will come to them.''

Vicky's naked body was found near a remote lane on the North York Moors, near the village of Danby, last Friday.

Cleveland Police said that, despite a disappointing public response to appeals, key witnesses have come forward, and the 40-strong murder hunt team is now "pressing ahead with several lines of inquiry".

But a force spokesman said: "Detectives are anxious to trace all friends, acquaintances and clients who had anything to do with the 21-year-old, over September 22, 23 and 24. She was last seen alive in the early hours of Sunday (September 24) in Princes Road, Middlesbrough.''

Det Supt Dunn said: "She spent that weekend in Middlesbrough town centre and we need to speak to everyone who was with her during that time.

"Someone out there knows what happened.

"It could be a friend, another working girl or a man she was with. All it takes is a single telephone call to the incident room.''

He said: "Vicky was a young woman with her whole life in front of her. We would ask people to search their consciences and get in touch.''

The numbers to ring are the incident room on (01642) 301283 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
