BEAUTY treatments, free football tickets and mince pies will be on offer to unemployed people looking for a job in the Hartlepool area.

The town's Action Team for Jobs will be at the Belle Vue Sports Centre next Thursday, to raise awareness of opportunities to break down barriers to employment.

Staff will be offering practical help to people looking for a job, including meeting the costs of tools and equipment, and helping homeless people find accommodation so they can get work.

Free beauty treatments and refreshments will be available from 1pm to 4pm, and there will be a chance to get free tickets to the Hartlepool match on Saturday, December 3, against Southend United.

Action team leader Annette Harrison said: "We were given the task of finding radical solutions to solve the problems that prevent people getting and maintaining jobs.

"Sometimes, it can be something simple like having to have a set of tools. In other cases it can be more complicated, like problems with childcare, travel to work or updating their skills.

"We can help people overcome these things which means that they can go out and get a job."

Since the action team was set up in June it has helped 93 people into work
