COUNCILLORS have deferred a decision on whether to allow advertisements to be placed on the side of a bus stop over safety fears.
More Group UK has applied to Darlington Borough Council for planning permission to place the advertisements on the side of a bus stop next to 301 Yarm Road, Darlington.
But ward councillor Ian Haszeldine told a meeting of the council's planning committee there were fears that it might be a safety hazard. With trees and other obstacles in the line of sight along the road, residents were concerned they would be unable to get a clear view when leaving their drives.
Councillors agreed to defer the plans for officers and the applicants to discuss alternative arrangements
