RICHMONDSHIRE district is to spend cash on a bid to be in the movies - but has turned down a push to advertise the Dales.

The area's business forum was asked this week if it would support an initiative promoting the production of a television commercial, highlighting Yorkshire's attractions.

The group, which comprises members of the council and representatives from local firms, rejected the idea on the grounds of cost.

However, another scheme aimed at putting the district on the screen was given the go-ahead.

The forum voted to spend £500 registering Richmondshire with the Yorkshire Screen Commission, which helps find locations for films and TV series
