A 16-YEAR-OLD girl has turned down a summer holiday in Ibiza in an attempt to take part in a sailing challenge.
Ellen Taylor from Dalehouse Village, near Staithes, North Yorkshire, is hoping to join a Hartlepool crew taking part in the Cutty Sark tall ships race around Scandinavia this summer.
She needs to raise £2,000 to take part and has already managed to raise £900. Her next event will be a sponsored 22- mile swim at either Loftus or Whitby swimming pools.
Although Ellen, who attends Huntcliff School, Saltburn, has no experience of sailing, she is looking forward to the challenge.
