Tow Law Bass League

The Captain's League top spot was thrown wide open when the leading pair both lost. Darren Yeoman of Tow Law New Market A lost to Stephen Boughey of the visiting Cattle Mart, but still holds a one point lead because Jeff Sneath of Billy Row Club lost to Carl Wilcockson of the visiting Sunniside Comedian. This gives Esh Football Club and the Comedian an outside chance of sharing the top spot.

In the league, Billy Row Club need just five points from two matches to clinch the Championship, while Esh Stag's Head need eight points from two games to beat the Tow Law New Market A for the runners up spot.

The leading individual scorers were G. Hope with a maximum for the Station. K. Starr 180 for the Royal Oak, J. Sneath three 140's and a 15 darts finish and G. Pratt 140 for Billy Row Club, R. Peacock 140 for the Comedian and G. Beveridge 140 for the Moss Inn.

The Victoria Club clinched the championship with a six points home win over Willington Commercial, while Willington Burn took the runners-up trophies despite being held to a home draw by Willington Club. The Prospect Club ended eight points short of the Burn in third place.

The only two maximums of the week came for Willington Club with the marksmen being Arthur Goldsborough and Scott Little.

Crook Ladies League

Crook Queen's Head were surprisingly beaten by thee points at home by the neighbouring Crook Belle Vue Club and look to have lost their chance of landing the runners up spot as they have slipped 15 points behind Tow Law New Market B, who only dropped one point at Billy Row Green.

Crook Coach and Horses, winners for the loss of only one point are Tow Law Dan's Castle, are certain champions with a lead of 74 points on the New Market B.

The leading individual scorers were Dorothy Storey 154 for the Travellers Rest, Christine Dunn 140 for the Olde Horse Shoe, Lilly Chedd 121 for the Royal George and Angela Armstrong 120 for the Rose and Crown.

Wear Valley Ladies League

Crook Three Blue Bells recent poor form continued when they went down to their third consecutive defeat in the vital top of the table clash at home to Crook Mill House. The visitors took the match by three points to extend their lead to 15 points at the top.

The earlier good form of the Three Blue Bells, however, has left them well placed in second position, where they hold a 16 point lead over Crook Golden Fleece and Crook Royal Sun.

The leading individual scorers were Alison Archer with 140 and 135 for the Mill House, Tracey Thompson 140 and Jackie Ramage 120 for the Royal Sun and Sheila Moore and Denise Taylor with 125 each for the White Swan.
