Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was seriously hurt when he was struck by a double-decker bus in Birds Nest Road, Walker, Newcastle, at 9.45pm on Sunday
A police spokesman said it appeared that the man had crossed the road and stumbled back into the path of the bus when he reached the pavement on the south side.
He was taken to the Newcastle General Hospital with serious head injuries.
