A MAN who predicted that he would go to prison, during a drugs raid on his home, was proved correct yesterday.

Alan Storr, 24, was locked up for a total of four-and-a-half years at York Crown Court, after admitting possessing heroin with intent to supply, last November.

He received three and a half years imprisonment for the drugs offence. He was ordered to begin that sentence with a year's recall, still outstanding, for a previous offence of attempted robbery.

Martin Rudland, prosecuting, said police officers from Whitby searched a house in the town's Auckland Way, at 8.30am. They found the accused and his girlfriend in bed.

A search through the pockets of Storr's jeans revealed a quantity of citric acid, which is used by addicts to break down heroin, and also four foil wraps of heroin.

Storr told officers it was "my gear for today". They also found a large quantity of methadone, a heroin substitute.

Mr Rudland said Storr then told the girl: "I am going to jail now."

Mr Rudland added: "He was disarmingly frank and said that in order to feed his own habit he was used by others to sell heroin on the streets of Whitby.

"He admitted he was selling 20 bags a day and for every five he sold he got one free himself."

John Robinson, for Storr, said there was little he could say other than that he had helped police throughout and had been totally frank.
