GOLFERS are to get a new look golf course because of a road scheme on the Yorkshire coast.

The Scarborough to Lebberston bypass, on the busy A165 holiday road between Scarborough and Filey, will cut through part of the South Cliff Golf Club in Filey Road, Scarborough.

Now councillors are being recommended to approve the creation of two new holes on 14 acres of agricultural land.

Gordon Somerville Scarborough Borough Council's chief planner said the two new holes will have fairways with a north-south orientation, together with a series of bunkers.

However, neighbours want a bridle path, which they say has been ploughed up, reinstated as part of the scheme.
