A REJUVENATED microelectronics company is leading the way to business success in the Tees Valley, with the launch of a new facility at Skelton.

Cleveland Circuits, part of the Cleveland Technologies Group, has created 25 jobs at its £350,000 in-house printed Circuit Board Population Service, opened by chairman of One NorthEast, Dr John Bridge yesterday.

Cleveland Circuits was established in 1971 and moved to its present location on the Skelton Industrial Estate in 1979.

Opening the new facility, Dr Bridge said: "This is a shining example of a company successfully developing its business to move with the times and compete more strongly in the global market.

"Job creation from new initiatives such as this is vital for the future prosperity of the Tees Valley."

Andrew Gleghorn, managing director of Cleveland Technologies, said: "We decided some time ago that we could not afford to rest on our laurels. The way forward was to commit to long-term investment rather than short-term profit taking.

"As a result, we have improved market penetration and competitiveness in the face of increasing foreign competition and currency fluctuations."

He added: "With the continued support of our customers and employees, I can no reason why the group will not continue to grow and prosper."

The first stage of the investment programme was completed last year, helping to further automate production and increase capacity at the Skelton site.

The company has been able to offer more competitive pricing and quicker delivery due to the automation improvements.

The new facility is expected to generate additional business of more than £1m this year.
