AN MEP looked at ways of creating new jobs using European money during a visit to the region.
Gordon Adam, Labour's European Energy Spokesman, met up with Vera Baird, the party's prospective parliamentary candidate for Redcar, when he called at South Bank, Middlesbrough, last Friday. They discussed how European grants might help create new jobs and visited the existing Business Centre and the site of its replacement. Both politicians believe the new centre will create a positive image for the area and help stimulate interest in industrial development.
After the visit, the pair met officers from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council to discuss possible sites and how European grants could enable work to start within 18 months.
Mr Adam and Ms Baird then called at the potential areas, finishing their tour at the Coatham housing project for young people.
