TWO brothers have beaten million-to-one odds to score a hole-in-one on the same round, the same day and the same hole.

The feat happened when brothers Eric and John Wilkinson played a round of golf at their local club.

They proved they were the kings of the swingers as they each scored an ace on the eighth hole of Ravensworth Golf Club, Wrekenton, Tyne and Wear.

Neither realised they had pulled off the double, as the hole is invisible from the tee.

Eric, 46, was first to play on the 148-yard hole and John, 41, hit his shot minutes later, without knowing his brother had got the hole-in-one.

It was only after walking over the hill the brothers realised they had scored aces.

Although it is not unknown for two golfers to hit a hole-in-one at the same hole while playing together, no one has heard of two brothers achieving it.

The pair were left with empty wallets after they had to pay for drinks in the clubhouse, in celebration of their achievement.

Secretary of the club, Bob Hill, said the double was a stunning achievement.

He said: "I knew that someone had done it in the past, but it has never happened to two brothers before."

A spokeswoman for William Hill Bookmakers said even a hole-in-one was rare.

She said: "For a hole-in-one the odds are generally 1,000-to one, but for something like this it would be more like a million-to-one."
