A CLEVELAND Police inspector appeared on a charge in the Crown Court yesterday after an investigation into his work nine years ago.

Neil O'Byrne, 41, an inspector at Middlesbrough, was charged with misconduct in a public office as an officer of Cleveland Constabulary at Middlesbrough and Redcar between May 1, 1992, and December 31, 1992.
