A UNIVERSITY is planning a range of activities to coincide with Adult Learners' Week.

The promotion, from next Saturday to Friday, May 18, is aimed at widening access to learning and encouraging adults to return to study.

At Teesside University, the emphasis will be on practical workshops and providing a taste of higher education. It will introduce the week with a general advice session, from 10am to 3pm next Saturday, at the Student Centre, Southfield Road, Middlesbrough.

The following Monday, there will be talks by mature students giving their impressions of studying at university, and the week will continue with sessions on the Internet, films, psychology and science.

Dr Margaret Noble, director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning, said: "The events during Adult Learners' Week provide a good cross section of the kinds of things on offer and give people a taste of university life. I am sure there is something to interest everyone."
