COMMUNITY rooms in a rural village are to be made more accessible to the public thanks to a grant which will fund a refurbishment project.
West Tanfield Chapel Rooms, which are used by an after-school club and the local cricket club, has been awarded a £15,770 grant by Northallerton company Yorventure.
The money will help create disabled access to the building, as well as providing new kitchen and toilet facilities.
The Reverend Elizabeth Clark, Methodist minister for the Masham area, said: "The grant will enable us to make the rooms even more of an asset to the community. We are hoping to have work completed in time for the chapel's centenary celebrations in June."
