COMMUNITY centres across Teesside are being asked to help a support group.
Take Heart Support groups help people who suffer with heart disease. They aim to help sufferers develop self-confidence by making positive changes to their lifestyles, take part in exercise classes and walking groups, and learn relaxation techniques.
All of these actions help reduce the risk of further heart attacks. More than 250 recovering cardiology patients regularly take part in weekly meetings at eight venues in south Cleveland.
However, the group is running out of room because more heart victims are contacting the group's coordinators to join the sessions.
Malcolm Griffiths, chairman of the Take Heart Group coordinating committee, has asked members to contact local authorities, community groups, religious organisations and other groups which might have under-used premises.
The group says rooms need to be reasonably sized, have secure car parking, and refreshment facilities.
Anyone who can help should call the group's secretary on (01642) 491655.
