A NEW anti-theft campaign is being planned this summer.
Crime prevention officer Colin Hopkins has teamed up with a group of insurance brokers from Hartlepool to put on a week-long exhibition offering free crime busting tips and property marking advice.
WA Smith Insurance, in York Road, is opening from today, inviting people to call in and have their property permanently marked, making it less attractive to thieves.
PC Hopkins said: "I would encourage people to come along and find out how they can make their valuables virtually worthless to thieves.
An indelible post code mark on any item makes it considerably harder to dispose of and reduces the chance of it being sold on to innocent buyers."
PC Hopkins will be at WA Smith Insurance today, between 10am and 12pm, Wednesday, between 9.30am and 11.30am and Friday, between 2pm and 4pm
