A RESIDENTIAL martial arts academy is offering places to its first students.

The World Martial Arts Academy, in Malton, is almost complete and is offering places to those who wish to make a career of the martial arts and their associated disciplines.

Stage one is open to male students only, but there are plans for female students in the future.

Principal Alan Foster said: "The academy would like to hear from honest and unattached men with no commitments or convictions from any part of the UK, who preferably have martial arts knowledge and experience.

"They must be prepared to reside at the academy, in North Yorkshire, and work locally to supplement their cost of study and overseas travel. The academy can help find work for those wishing to relocate.

"Those with recognised grades and teaching qualifications in the martial arts will be assisted to open schools and classes in the area.

"The national training programme will be duplicated across Europe and the rest of the world, through the huge membership of the Martial Arts Council."

All disciplines within martial arts will be covered over three years with a view to opening 200 centres of excellence in UK cities.
