FUNDRAISERS have donated £1,534 to help a Ferryhill school buy specialist equipment.
Rosebank Special School is trying to raise money to fund a sound and light room for the use of its pupils.
A group of six local people decided to get together to stage a series of events to raise the cash for the school.
Headteacher Sue Stubbs said she was extremely grateful for their efforts.
"Local people are really good for special causes, and they just wanted to raise some money for us," she said.
"We are developing a room which I call a sound and light room, which any children in the school can use.
"It will be for the most disabled children, right up the most able, either individually or in groups."
Fundraising efforts included a raffle and a day of events in a nearby club, which raised the total of £1,534.
Mrs Stubbs said: "I am very pleased. They scoured the highways and byways to make sure they got some really good raffle prizes."
