POLICE have confirmed the identity of a man who died in a road accident in North Yorkshire over the weekend.

Adrian Frank, 25, of Goathland was at the wheel of a red Audi which left the road and hit a tree on a country lane, between Sleights and Grosmont, in the early hours of Sunday.

He was cut from the wreckage by firefighters, but died later from his injuries at Scarborough General Hospital.

His brother, Russell Frank - who lives at Harewood, near Harrogate - was cut free from the passenger seat and taken to the same hospital, where he was described as "comfortable" yesterday.

Police investigating the accident have asked anyone who may have seen the car shortly before the accident, or who may have met the two brothers during the evening, to come forward.

Witnesses can contact PC Brian Wilson by telephoning (01609) 783131.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist killed in a collision with a car on the B6268, between Masham and Bedale, at the weekend, was named last night as John Richard Ingham, 52, of Bedale.

He died after his Kawasaki collided with a blue Citroen at about 4pm on Sunday.

Three other people in a blue Citroen, including a young child, needed hospital treatment after the accident, which happened at about 4pm, although none of their injuries were serious.

In the meantime, officers dealing with the accident are hoping to trace witnesses to help with an investigation into what happened.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact PC Andy Langford, who can be reached through the force switchboard on (01609) 783131.
