A MAN has denied killing a Durham University student who died after a brawl on a late-night train.
Patrick Brown, 21, died after being found at the bottom of an embankment near Durham station early on March 3.
He had been out with friends in Newcastle before catching the last train to Durham, where a fight broke out.
Christopher Woolley, 24, of Bek Road, Newton Hall, Durham, pleaded not guilty to murder, at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday.
The case was adjourned. Mr Woolley will be tried by a jury in the week starting October 15.
John Wilkinson, prosecuting, told the court that there may be an application for the case to be heard at Durham, so that the jury can have easy access to the scene.
Mr Woolley was remanded in custody
