POLICE in east Durham have joined forces with a supermarket to help protect residents from bogus callers.
Staff from the Peterlee branch of Asda are teaming up with officers from the crime prevention unit to highlight the problem of conmen callers.
Two meetings are planned to give advice on how to deal with bogus callers.
The first session will be at Peterlee's town centre post office on Monday, June 11, and the second at the Asda store, on Friday, June 15.
Crime prevention officer for Easington police division, PC Graham Johnson, said the main message from the sessions would be, "If in doubt. Keep them out".
He said: "We will be telling people what to watch out for, and offering devices such as door restrictors to groups and residents.''
