A TEENAGER who has been in care with Darlington social services for several years is looking for a family to help support him.

The 17-year-old, called Robert, has explained to local care managers what kind of home he is hoping to find.

He said: "I have been looked after by Darlington social services for several years.

"I will be 18 years old soon and hope to leave care. I realise that, even after I leave care, it is inevitable I will need support for some considerable time to come until I feel confident to be independent."

He said: "I am looking for a couple or single person who will welcome me into their home and offer me supported lodgings.

"Ideally, I would like to remain in Darlington or the immediate surrounding area.

"I am friendly, polite and have a sense of humour.

"I enjoy listening to music, playing on the computer and watching TV.

"I like to swim and play badminton, and I am currently on a training course.

"Once I leave care, I will still receive help from social services, but I would like to have the additional support and experience of being in a family."
