WORKMEN have been seriously inconvenienced by thieves who walked away with their toilet.
The thieves stole the portable toilet from Elm Crescent, Kimsblesworth, near Chester-le-Street, over the weekend. It was there for council workers carrying out tasks on wasteland near a bus depot.
The workers noticed the toilet, worth £800, was missing when they arrived at the site shortly before 8am on Monday.
The toilet is seven or eight feet high with green walls, a brown door and white roof and stickers around the side, bearing the name Owen Pugh, the name of Northumberland firm which hired it.
Acting inspector Ian Butler said; "The thieves would have needed a vehicle to remove the toilet and what they intend to do with it now is anyone's guess. They have certainly caused a real inconvenience to the workmen and we will be relieved to hear from anyone with information as to its whereabouts.
