A GROUP of adults with learning difficulties and disabilities were treated as first class passengers on a special flight yesterday.
The students from Stockton and Billingham College were checked into a model aircraft by trainee cabin crew students from the college, as part of their travel and transport training.
The travellers, complete with sunglasses and hats, were issued with passports and boarding cards, and served refreshments during the simulated flight.
The aircraft is a model of a plane from the cockpit to wing, and was built in the college to give training to students.
It has airline seating, a galley area and airline equipment.
Cabin crew tutor Suzzannah Mead said: "We wanted to make the experience as realistic as possible for the students as many had never flown before.
"It was also excellent training for the trainee cabin crew who have already completed training days with Britannia Airlines and SERCO International Fire Training Centre.
"They ensured the 'flight' went smoothly."
