Terry Venables has decided on his future with Middlesbrough but will not make a decision until chairman Steve Gibson returns from a business trip in South Africa.
Speculation is mounting that the Boro head coach is set to turn his back on a lucrative new deal at the Riverside, in favour of a role with ITV as a football pundit.
Gibson is due back on English soil later today and an announcement on El Tel's future is expected to be made in the next few days.
Venables said: "We will let you know as soon as we've had the discussion but I feel we have to discuss it first.
"Once the decision has been made there's no point hanging on to it."
Venables has been linked with a return to former club Barcelona as well as jobs at Valencia and West Ham
