ART gallery visitors will be able to have their personal treasures valued by an expert.

Guy Haskell, from Phillips Auctioneers, will be at Gateshead's Shipley Art Gallery on Saturday, from 11am to 2.30pm, not May 12 as stated in last week's Northern Echo.

Visitors can bring along anything they would like professionally valued.

Mr Haskell, who has been with Phillips for six years, has an extensive knowledge of antiques, and will give valuations and a history of the objects.

He said: "Sometimes you find a hidden treasure, which is always a pleasant surprise."

Ann Fletcher-Williams, curator at the Shipley, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for people to get belongings valued, and find out a bit of background. We are pleased to have Guy at the gallery.
