FINAL preparations are now being made for the city of Ripon's 2001 Spring Festival.
Events to suit all ages have been lined up for the annual event, which begins on May 22 and continues until June 3.
A major addition to this year's festival is the involvement of the Royal Engineers Band, which will stage a concert in Ripon Cathedral on May 25. The band will also play in the market square the following day.
Other new events include musical evenings in Kirkgate, arts shows, a German-style "bierfest" and Summer Is Icumen In in the Magdalen Chapel.
Also included are a street party, barrel-rolling, a mad hatters' tea party, brass bands concerts, and a spring.
Festival programmes are being distributed around the city and in local schools.
