AMANDA Cowan, based at Elwick, took the 1.10m members cup at Stainsby Grange senior show on bank holiday Monday.

Her victory came on the eight-year-old Dovecote Jilly, bred by her grandfather Fred Grieves out of his mare Separate Tables. Her nearest rival was Saltburn's Christopher Hill with his prolific 2000 winner Ted's Way.

Amanda's younger sister, Jennifer, made it a family double when she won the 45-starter British novice on Dovecote Jenny ahead of David Holliday riding Hassells Mr Punch.

Julie finished third with Skater in the newcomers and won the class with Homecote Psammite, while Stainsby owner Peter Allen, on the German-bred Stainsby Don Edwardo, just edged out Barker on his grade C specialist Blue Chip Quinton and Sunbey in the open.
