Bishop Auckland League - Spennymoor Weardale managed to take an odd point win when their captain, Shane Casen shared the captain's points with Alan Young, the captain of the host team, St. Helens Wheatsheaf.

The Wheatsheaf had two singles points from Darren Denham with one each from David Bradshaw, Mark Cliffe and John Wymar. Weardale had Martin Short with two singles points and one each for Stephen Newall, Shane Casen and Steve Sinclair. The visitors then took the doubles through Steve Sinclair and Stephen Newall to set up the deciding captain's game.

Spennymoor Hillingdon came through to a good odd point home win over Bishop Auckland King's Head. The home side had two singles points from Mark Frizzell and John Bulmer with Gary Armstrong and Kevin Waterhouse. The King's replied with two points from Kevin Watson and one each from Chris Priestley and Derek Jacomb. The King's took the doubles through Kevin Watson and Derek Jacomb with captain, Andrew Tuesday levelling the match. In the deciding captain's game Mark Frizzell beat Andrew Tuesday to make the home victory. Crook Olde Horse Shoe lead the table by 16 points from Bishop Auckland King's Head with Spennymoor Ashtree a further five points adrift but have a match in hand.

Howden Australian B had their lead cut to four points at the top of the table when they went down by the odd point at home to Hunwick Club. The singles were shared with Steven Burke, Paul Davidson and Michael Burke winning for the Aussie, while Mike O'Brien, Alan Binks and Ian Richardson replied. The visitors then made their victory by taking the first two doubles. Willington Black Horse Tavern are in third place, four points behind the second placed Oakenshaw Club, but they went down at home by the odd point to Hunwick Quarry Burn. Craig Eales, Neville Ridley and Tommy Parkin took singles points for the home side, while Leanne Cunningham, Dean Edmundson and Keith Dufton replied for the Quarry Burn, who took the first two doubles to clinch their victory.

Tow Law League

At the annual meeting Barry Sims of Hamilton Row Black Horse was elected chaiman, Keith Muse of Tow Law Football Club as secretary and Malcolm Boughey of Tow Law Cattle Mart, the treasurer. Fourteen teams were accepted into the new league, which will begin on May 23.

Spennymoor League

Spennymoor Salvin Arms made only their third victory of the season but it was a win that prevented the second placed visitors, from closing the gap on the leading Spennymoor Quinns Inn.

Salvin Arms had singles points from H. Bailey, C. Davidson, T. Howarth and P. Coombes while the visitors only managed one point through L. Bell. The visitors pulled back by taking the two doubles through K. Bell with S. Turner and G. Howard with D. Clooney.

However, in the captain's game H. Bailey clinched the Salvin victory by beating L. Bell.

Spennymoor Quinns Inn are six points ahead of Chilton Wheatsheaf, who are two ahead of Spennymoor Football Club, Spennymoor Pit Laddie and Spennymoor Voltigeur.
