Marske United clinched third place with a 1-0 win at relegated Crook Town on Monday night.

Marske, who have surged up the table in recent weeks, scored the winner after 73 minutes when James Middleton scored from a clearance by keeper John Jackson.

On the same night, Tow Law beat Billingham Town 2-0. 18-year-old Brian Wake, banging the goals in for Wolviston in the Wearside League, scored both in the second-half.

Manager Graeme Forster said: " He's good enough to play regularly in the Northern League. He's done well against teams like Bedlington in recent weeks and has got plenty of potential."

West Auckland won 2-1 at Morpeth. They took the lead after 43 minutes when Kevin Shoulder scored from a Paul Nozedar cross, then headed a second after 64 minuets from Dale Anderson's cross.

Consett drew 3-3 with Billingham Town on Wednesday. The match kicked off 35 minutes late because Billingham were delayed. When it finally began, Consett sailed into a three-goal lead. Gary Cowley scored from the edge of the box after eight minutes, Chris Hodgson got the second from a rebound and Tony Halliday headed the third after 19 minutes. Town hit back in the second-half. Paul Rowntree scored from the spot after he was brought down, Eddie Hebron scored a second from 20 yards and popped up with the equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time.

Brandon United have been voted the last team of the month following their excellent run in April which saw them move into the top six and reach the Durham Challenge Cup final after winning promotion last season.

The team of the month award will be replaced by the performance of the week award next season.

Murton could lose three points for fielding an ineligible player. They are alleged to have used David Clark, a suspended player, in their 7-0 home defeat by Prudhoe.

Second Division club Norton have been charged with bringing the game into disrepute for playing the game at Shotton on May 5 with eight men. Remarkably, Norton pulled off a 2-2 draw.

l The league has agreed that the 7-1 scoreline between Evenwood and South Shields, when the floodlights went out with just ten seconds remaining, should stand. However, Evenwood have been instructed to repair their lights, which also went out a couple of nights later in the next home match against Whickham.

l Esh Winning have been instructed to pay Penrith £175 for the cost of hiring their bus for their abandoned game last month.

The game was stopped by referee Russell Tiffin after he had received abuse from a spectator. The referee has written to the league about the incident, but the league is awaiting the decision of Durham FA. The game was staged again on Monday, and the goalless draw passed without incident.

l Evenwood manager Terry Laffey and Murton boss Chris Copeland have both been instructed to appear in front of the league charged with undesirable conduct following recent incidents.

l Bedlington have been fined a £100 by the league for a second offence of wearing the same coloured shorts as their opponents, West Auckland, on April 7.

l The league is to inspect Nissan's ground after winning the Wearside League and gaining promotion to the Northern League.

l The league is mourning the death of Eppleton secretary John Gibson at the age of 51. He had been secretary of the club for several years, and was greatly respected by everybody in the league for the amount of work he did for the club. Chairman Mike Amos said: "Eppleton are going to have a big gap to fill, because he has done a tremendous job in keeping the club going by doing all sorts of jobs. He will be sadly missed."

l Burton Albion, who were pipped to the Doctor Martens League title by Margate, could be playing in the UniBond League next season.

The three clubs relegated from the Conference, Kingstonian, Kettering and Hednesford, are dropping into either the Rymans or Doctor Martens League, so under the rules of the pyramid, Burton, who are managed by Nigel Clough and beat Bishop Auckland in the FA Trophy, might be switched to the UniBond.
