A SCOUT group is celebrating opening of new headquarters.
Members of the 11th Darlington, 1st Hurworth Scout Group were devastated after the Scout centre was attacked by vandals last year, while still under construction.
They broke the windows and scrawled graffiti on walls.
Since then, members of the community have rallied with offers of donations.
Help has also been offered by joiners and builders, and a free security system was fitted by Darlington firm Cybertronics.
The refurbished centre, in the grounds of Hurworth Grange, near Darlington, was opened by the Durham County Commissioner George Mitchell.
Group secretary Derek Blenkharn said: "We were gutted when we discovered the vandalism, but a lot of time and effort has gone in to get where we are now, and to provide an excellent facility, which should be in use for the next 15 to 20 years."
