MORE than 30,000 visitors are expected to flock to a County Durham town when traders from across Europe fly in.

This is the third successive year that a continental market, with traders from Holland, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, has brought its range of goods and crafts to Shildon, near Bishop Auckland.

Glyn Hall, Sedgefield Borough Council's director of housing and environmental health, said the three-day event was now firmly established on the continental traders' British map.

He said: "Every year they have been here the traders regularly speak of the friendliness, warmth and the hospitality that is shown to them by the people of Shildon.

"It is a venue they look forward to returning to. No sooner do they arrive than they begin planning ahead for the following year."

The market will take place from June 15 to 17
