ONE of the region's hospices has been shortlisted for the national Charity Awards.
Hartlepool and District Hospice, which provides short-term, palliative care for patients with terminal illnesses, has been put forward for the social care, welfare and religion category of the awards.
The nomination recognises the work of the hospice's Homelink service, which offers 24-hour medical and nursing care for those who prefer to spend their last days at home.
The Charity Awards will be presented at a dinner at London's Inter-Continental Hotel later this month.
Other charities nominated include Comic Relief, the Alzheimer's Society and the Girl Guides and Scouts Association.
