Ferryhill Town Council has given a £1,000 cheque to support the work of the highly successful Ferryhill Town Band.
Town council executive officer Jamie Corrigan said: "We are very proud of what they've achieved."
The council also gave £800 to Ferryhill Youth Club, based at Dean Bank Literary Institute. Mr Corrigan said: "We regularly support the club because there are between 30 and 40 children who go there every week."
