Lucie Ahl today became the first British casualty of Wimbledon after being crushed 6-4 6-1 by Emmanuelle Gagliardi.
Ahl, the British No2, lasted just one and a half hours into the tournament before being dismissed by the Swiss ace.
Victory for the 26-year-old from Exeter would have been enough to topple Louise Latimer as the nation's highest rank player.
