A YOUNG North-East band hoping to find stardom are gearing up for their biggest concert to date.

Resthouse, whose members come from Shildon and Newton Aycliffe, will have an extra reason to be proud when they tune up for the outdoor concert on July 14. Three of the band will be performing before a hometown audience.

Having been together for a year, and with only two other concerts under their belts, the band have been picked to play at The Northern Echo Sound Track, at the Shildon 2000 Stadium, in Middridge Lane.

Drummer Paul Scott, rhythm guitarist Craig Riley and bass player Wayne Thompson are all from Shildon.

Singer and guitarist Tom Tolson is from Newton Aycliffe.

They will be joined at the show by up-and-coming North-East boy band X-Poze, whose members include former Popstars hopefuls and a Stars In Their Eyes contestant, as well as established bands from the region.

The event will be hosted by Paul Danan, who plays Sol in the TV series Hollyoaks, and TFM presenters, while the radio station has also promised special guests.

Tickets for the Sedgefield Borough Council-run event cost £5, and under-14s must be accompanied by adults. Any adult accompanying four or more children under 14 will be given free access to the event.
