YOUNGSTERS visiting a new play area are in for a big surprise - the teddy bear litter bins thank them for their rubbish.
The four talking bins are the latest addition to Delves Lane Village Hall play area, near Consett.
They were funded by a grant of £4,340 from County Durham Environmental Trust to encourage children to look after their surroundings.
The play area is used by more than 70 children each day, and has been developed by Delves Lane Community Association.
Anne Westgarth, association adminstrator, said: "Delves Lane is an ex-mining village and there has been little enhancement to the area.
"Alongside all our other facilities, the litter bins have been a big hit."
