A £3m cliff protection scheme at Robin Hood's Bay will officially open next week.
Scarborough Borough Council has been carrying out work to safeguard the cliff from sea erosion and instability.
On Wednesday, Reg Purnell, chief engineer with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, will declare the work open.
The project was launched to stabilise cliff slopes north and south of the village which have a long history of landslides. Rock protection has been introduced to prevent sea erosion, while deep-bored piles and drainage aim to prevent ground movement.
Council spokesman Godfrey Allanson said: "This scheme will hopefully sustain Robin Hood's Bay for many years to come. It has been a major investment in what is a national, as well as a local, treasure."
