YOUNGSTERS have taken a creative role in a campaign to curb the actions of speeding motorists on a town's roads.
Pupils from Mill Hill School in Northallerton, are the first in the county to design their own road signs to act as warnings to drivers.
Slogans, such as I'm Safe, I'm Happy, Slow is Best and Keep Us Safe are accompanied by drawings from children.
Four designs have been chosen to form proper road signs and they will be erected outside the school's 20mph safety zone, in Crosby Road and Grammar School Lane.
Pupils Abigail Lumley and Christopher Howarth will have their signs displayed in Crosby Road, while Dionne Maver and Hannah Weatherill will see their designs on Grammar School Lane.
The county council's director of environmental services, Mike Moore, said: "We hope that by involving youngsters in creating their own road safety signs the message will stay with them for the rest of their lives."
