The Readers Durham County League Under-18s - Stephen Sweeney was in top form for Mainsforth who had only eight runs in hand of Sedgefield.

Sweeney hit one six and four fours in 47 not out when Mainsforth posted 100-4 and despite an unbeaten 36 by Chris Raw, Sedgefield could only manage 92-9 in reply as Howell captured four wickets for 19 runs in five overs.

Brandon defeated Tudhoe by ten wickets after restricting the visitors to 84-8.

Scott Hopson struck five boundaries in 43 not out and Rick Curry had four fours as he finished undefeated on 35.

Robson, with 57 not out played the leading role when Bishop Auckland yielded 137-3 at Ushaw Moor who were sent crashing to 34 all out.

Langley Park posted the formidable total of 184 for the loss of just one

wicket at home to Coundon. John Lee led the way with an undefeated 70 and Peter Caulfield contributed 64. Chris Davies was also in good form and he was 32 not out when the overs expired. In reply, Coundon made only 58-8.

Chris Dodds (33) was the top runmaker in the Esh Winning total of 130-7 and three of the wickets were taken by Clark for 21 runs. Ian Corrick, with 3-15 and Eddie Watson (3-22) then restricted Willington to 90-9.

Evenwood needed just ten overs to overtake the Crook Town score of 82-3. Chris Coatsworth (45 not out) and Billy Teesdale (25) earned Evenwood a nine-wickets win.

Boddingtons Durham Coast League Under-15s

Craig Robinson made the game's top score of 46 but could not earn Seaham Park victory against Houghton who won with 11 runs to spare. Faced with a target of 107, Seaham were restricted to 95-5 while for Houghton, Ian Dixon (28) and Carl White (24) led their side to 106-6.

Carl Bellerby was again in top form for Boldon CA but despite contributing 47 to a total of 108-8, he too ended on the losing side. In the Castle Eden attack, Evans returned figures of 3-9, Tudball 2-17 and Hart 2-24. In response, Castle Eden won losing just four wickets as Kelly scored 34 and Evans 28.

Shahid Hussain contributed 51 to the Bill Quay total of 107-4 which was just sufficient in the game with Dawdon who replied with 106-7. Stephen Gale (48) almost won the game for Dawdon and for Bill Quay, Alex Strange was in good form with the ball taking three wickets for just 18 runs.

South Hetton overtook the Peterlee total of 87 all out with four wickets intact. Carl Cooper carried his bat for 26 and in the Peterlee innings, none did better than Lawson with 37. Kyle Bradbury again struck form for South Hetton, capturing three wickets for only 15 runs.

The Readers Durham County League Under-15s

Evenwood made the formidable total of 128 for the loss of just two wickets visiting Brandon who could only manage 69-8 in reply which included 21 by Crossling.

Kellett top-performed with 55 and Alderson added 31 for Evenwood who when they took to the field, dominated with Walling the best of the attack with two wickets for ten runs.

Jonathan Presthead (27) edged Esh Winning to a three-wickets victory at home to Sedgefield. Faced with a target of 73 Esh lost seven wickets, three of them to Curbison for 18 runs.

Jamie Simpson produced the best bowling analysis of the game, however, picking up six wickets for a meagre 13 runs and Andrew Wilson returned 2-3. Stuart Hall was also among the wickets and his two were taken at a cost of just four runs while for Sedgefield, Richardson top-scored with 31.

Atkinson (41) and Alderson, with 31 not out enabled Bishop Auckland to reach 109-5 in the local derby with Crook Town at Kingsway. Crook managed just 75-8 as Dissanayake took 3-12. Earlier, Robinson captured 3-32 in the Crook attack.

Williamson (4-9) was instrumental in reducing Ushaw Moor to 67-8 in their home game with Tudhoe who ended on 96-7 despite Dawson returning figures of 3-17.

Andrew Tweddle returned the magnificent figures of 5-1 from 3.3 overs when Shildon restricted Mainsforth to 62 all out which included 22 by Austin.

Martin Smailes captured 2-12 and then carried his bat for 15 which together with 24 not out from Shaun Dunn, earned Shildon a seven-wicket win.

Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-18s

Chester-le-Street crashed to 39-9 against South Shields at Wood Terrace when Johnnie Wightman returned figures of 3-12 and Chris Lowes 3-16, the pair each bowling six overs. When Shields batted first, they finished with 129-3 which included 62 by David Maughan and 28 from Ray McRae.

Durham City lost by six wickets to Gateshead Fell after making just 73-5 which included 52 not out by Jim Allenby. Kidd and Costello both captured two wickets for the Fell who responded with 74-2 and Allenby completed a good game taking a couple of wickets for 35 runs.

Paul Riddle (32) and Alan Loscombe (40) enabled Hetton Lyons to post a formidable 146-7 against Seaham Harbour for whom Young had figures of 3-36 and Graham 2-34. Responding, Seaham were all out for 44 as Loscombe took 4-13, Lee Cowan 3-20 and Mattie Caine 2-0.

Paul Marshall, with an unbeaten 56 hurried Whitburn to a nine-wickets success at home to Burnmoor who batting first, were pegged to 86-9.

Mark Gray was another batsman in form, scoring 45 not out in the Eppleton total of 105-5 against Sunderland whose innings produced a total of 104-4
