JOHN Thornton, from Northallerton, is pictured on his way to winning the open class on State Trip at a one-day event held on July 7.
The competition attracted more than 80 entries in three hotly-contested sections. Dressage and show jumping were held at Northallerton Equestrian Centre and cross country at Helen Bell's Manor House, Newsham, Thirsk.
Results. - Novice A: 1 Cara Shardlow; =2 Oliver Rowe and William Wainwright (jnr); 4 Rachael Metcalf (jnr); 5 Gemma Nattrass; 6 Emma Boynton.
Novice B: 1 John Thornton; 2 Tricia Heaps; 3 Sarah Sissons; 4 Floreat Lepeu; =5 Stuart Wilson and Elizabeth Rueby.
Open: 1 John Thornton; 2 Vicki Tunnicliffe; 3 Carole Dennis; 4 Nataelia Eastwood; 5 Emma Smithson; 6 Andrew Rapson.
Another one-day event will take place on Sunday, August 26. Schedules can be obtained from Northallerton EC.
