FOOTBALL stars of the future have been learning winning ways at a summer school run by Premiership club Sunderland.

Youngsters from four to 14 spent two days at the King James 1st Community College, in Bishop Auckland, brushing up on ball control and dribbling and practising new skills.

The club's coaching staff have been running the schools in the North-East for football-mad youngsters.

Prizes were offered to players who showed the most improvement.

The club's development officer, Bob Oates, said: "Our courses cater for everyone, whatever their ability. It is a great way for children to get some exercise, make friends and have fun."
