A JEALOUS boyfriend is facing jail after killing his girlfriend in a 125mph crash while in a rage because she danced with another man.

Teresa Clark, 26, was enjoying a night out at the Baja Beach Club in Gateshead after drinking on Newcastle's Quayside when a row broke out with Mark Lepine, 29.

Newcastle Crown Court heard Lepine drove the mother-of-three, together with her sister and two cousins, towards home at 125mph until the crash which happened on the city's 40mph Jesmond Road.

Prosecutor John Aitken told the court how the former bus driver lost control of his Ford Sierra 4x4 while trying to negotiate a bend and the car smashed into a lamppost.

Miss Clark died after she received severe pelvic injuries and her sister, Gail, was forced to give evidence supported by crutches due to serious leg injuries.

The girls' cousin and front seat passenger Steven Lucas suffered broken ribs, a smashed hip and told the court how his pubic bone "came apart" in the smash. Daniel Myers suffered minor injuries.

Gail Clark told the court: "We were having a dance when this lad came up behind Teresa and grabbed her by the waist.

"He lost his temper, there was arguing and shouting between Teresa and Mark."

And Steven Lucas, who had to sit throughout his evidence still suffers severe pain most of the time, added: "His eyes were glued to the road, like he was in a trance."

The jury found him guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.

Lepine was in a coma for two weeks due to a clot on the brain and did not find out about her death until five weeks after the crash, while still in hospital.

Lepine, of Weatherall Terrace, Walker, Newcastle, was remanded in custody. He will be sentenced on August 29.
