Boddingtons Durham Course Under 18s - Andrdew Gale (54) and Chris Price (32) were both in top form when Dawdon defeated Bill Quay by 65 runs.

Batting first, Dawdon ended on 145 for five from their 20 overs with the Hussain brothers, Suhaib and Zuhaib each taking two wickets in the Bill Quay attack. Replying, Bill Quay were restricted to 80 for seven which included 28 by Philips. Ewert and Price both captured two wickets for Dawdon.

John Stalman (34) and Richard Ede (22) led Castle Eden to 101 for six with Kevin Mawhinney taking two for 15 for Murton who won losing three wickets. Most of Murton's runs came from Andrew Wellburn (30), David Scorer (26no) and Chris Nunn (29).

Michael Waterson was in superb form for Silksworth at home to Seaham Park. He ended undefeated on 92 out of a total of 155 for two and when Seaham Park went into bat they finished on 89 for two which included 52 not out by Andrew Docherty.

Martin Briggs with 41 and Chris Dowell (30) were the principle scorers in the Ryhope innings which ended on 123 for two from 20 overs. Replying, South Hetton made 91 for seven of which Paul Dawson scored 28 and John Bradbury 25 while in the Ryhope attack Gavin Snowball bowled well in claiming two wickets for 29 runs.

Hylton had 26 runs in hand when they visited Peterlee. Kit Allan carried his bat for 46 and Liam Foster added 34 to the Hylton total of 134 for five. Peterlee's Christopher Ford and Colin Docherty took two wickets.

Responding, Peterlee were pegged to 98 for six from their 20 overs mainly by Dane Wilson who returned the figures of six for 25. Allen took two for 18 and for Peterlee Ford top-scored with 22.

Ampleforth Under-12 Festival

Durham ended fourth out of eight teams who competed in the Ampleforth Under-12 Festival. In their first game against Wales, Durham lost narrowly by one wicket following a high scoring contest.

Andrew Lee Smith of Langley Park top-scored with 71 and Hartlepool's Paul Johnson contributed 61 to the Durham total of 192 for six before Wales won with their last pair at the wicket despite Andrew Smith, of Lintz, taking three for 13 and Whickham's Paul Falcus returning figures of two for 20.

The man of the match award went to Chester-le-Street's Jonathan Shurben who took five catches.

In their second match Durham were also involved in a close finish with Staffordshire before winning by five runs. Andrew Lee Smith hit 80 and Johnson 21 when Durham realised 179 for six before Staffordshire replied with 174 for six with two of the wickets falling to Hartlepool's Alan Tebbett at a cost of ten runs.

In the game with London Schools, their was yet a third close finale as Durham won with their last pair at the wicket.

After Eppleton's Scot Borthwick had taken four for 20, Tebbett lead Durham to victory carrying his bat for 44.

In their final game, Durham lost by four wickets to Yorkshire. Tebbett again scored an unbeaten 44 in a total of 173 and although Borthwick captured three wickets for 20 runs, Yorkshire won losing just six wickets.
